The Worst Film of 2017
Given that most audiences in recent years are turning to TV and streaming as forms of entertainment, I feel that I should just come out with it and say my worst film of the year: Justice League.
Firstly is this the worst superhero film ever made? No, it's pretty close but that's beside the point. While it may not be as bad as some notorious ones like Catwoman or Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, it definitely seems to get me angry the most - but why? Why does this film get so deep under my skin?
I'll tell you why: Because it's 20-bleeping-17! The fact that DC are still going with these lazy, overstuffed plots, thin characters, questionable casting choices, monotonous performances and only goals to step up future instalments with little to no changes other than do ones to appease ungrateful DC fans is just becoming insufferable and insulting.
Even if you didn't like Man of Steel which to me personally is not entirely understandable, you at least felt like they were trying - even though it was different there was some form of effort being put in.
I think we were initially angry at Batman v Superman because we hoped for the best when this DCCU was announced and by the time Justice League comes around and we find that like Batman V Superman that not only is it bad but feels uncaringly bad, we wonder why NO ONE at DC is waking up after all these stinkers and saying "Lets try something new and different let's go back to the drawing board and start over, let's step up our game, step up our characters, recast a few roles, step up our story. This is just the tipping point where critics, audiences and myself included are simply saying "Enough is enough. Give us effort again. Show us you care about these characters."
Finally, I'm not saying that I'm against Superhero team ups or crossovers if they're well crafted. Marvel are the King of the Hill in that field (I hate to sound bias but It's true). This particular Superhero Crossover just feels forced, unearned, by-the-numbers, rushed and one of those crossovers that nearly exists for the sake of it.
