The Hunt for Red October is a smart, intelligent, skillfully crafted submarine thriller
Based on the debut spy novel, The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy; In November 1984, Soviet submarine captain Marko Ramius (Sean Connert) goes rogue and plans wishes to defect to the United States with his fellow officers and the Red October, a new Typhoon-class, nuclear missile submarine with a stealth catapiller drive, rendering it undetectable to passive sonar. Concurrently, C.I.A analyst Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin) deduces his motive and must prove his theory to the U.S. Navy before a violent confrontation between the American and the Soviet navies spirals out of control.
