As I was watching the series, it became clear to me that it's not Hal Jordan's story (at least not entirely), it's John Stewart's story

Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre were a superb pairing.   Chandler's portrayal of Hal Jordan is a nuanced one, bringing to life the swagger and the  commonly associated with the character while also channeling the grizzled world weary

John, on the other hand, is an artist, often he looks at things from the inside out

The question at the centre of John's story is if you've been given a dream your whole life, is it yours? He's been conditioned to

Characters don't normally age in comic books  Hal's been Earth's Green Lantern for so long that he can no longer distinguish between the man and the job. Despite being middle aged, he isn't ready to hang up the suit and settle down. He' so afraid of being replaced because if he isn't Green Lantern anymore, he's going to have to go back to living in an empty mansion and face who he is.

The Lantern suits look fairly beat up and a bit faded reflecting Hal's nature.
