Review 472: BlacKkKlansman


BlacKkKlansman is a biographical crime film and Spike Lee's best work in years.

Based on the memoir Black Klansman by Ron Stallworth, In the early 70's, a time of great social upheaval as the struggle for civil rights rages on Ron Stallworth (Ballers' John David Washington) is hired as the first as the first black officer in Colorado Springs police department.

Duality is another prominent theme in the film:

Spike Lee's direction is precise, the cinematography is stunning and captures the beauty of Colorado Springs in the 70's, the score by Terence Blanchard is beautiful, the production design (recreating Colorado Springs in the 70's) is excellent and rich with detail, the costumes are marvellous,

John David Washington and Adam Driver are superb in this film playing Ron Stallworth and Det. Philip "Flip" Zimmerman respectively.

Topher Grace is simply a hoot playing Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke
