Review 527: Goodfellas

Goodfellas is a  crime film, one of Martin Scorsese's best films and

Based on the non-fiction crime book Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi, Since he was a high school kid, Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) always wanted to be part of the mafia.
Becoming enamored with the criminal life and Mafia presence in his working class Italian-American neighbourhood in Brooklyn, he begins to work slowly and very hard to advance himself within the ranks of mafia boss Paul "Paulie" Cicero (Paul Sorvino) and his associates: James "Jimmy the Gent" Conway (Robert DeNiro) and Tommy DiVito (Joe Pesci).
As time goes on, he enjoys the life of luxury he builds from himself and his wife Karen Hill (Lorraine Bracco) but remains completely oblivious to all the horror that he causes.
Unfortunately, all of that begins to fall apart when his dark deeds catch up to him and he's forced to

What sets Goodfellas apart from other films in its genre is that it explores mob life. The high life and nitty gritty violent side that comes with.

Ray Liotta  playing Henry Hill as an engaging, complex  He's a man from humble beginnings and from his perspective, the Mafia life is the most glossy, idyllic, glamorous world and he wants a part of it.
It's tough to not understand his point of view.
