Review 768: Nouvelle Vague

I don't know what gave Richard Linklater the idea to make a film about Breathless; it seemed like something that was so outside of his wheelhouse, but you know, it kinda works.

Nouvelle Vague (which means "New Wave" in English) is 

The year is 1959, a group of film critics, Jean-Luc Godard (Guillaume Marbeck), Francois Truffaut (Adrien Rouyard) & Claude Chabrol (Antoine Besson)

You have to admire a director 

Zoey Deutch (in her second collaboration with Linklater after 2016's Everybody Wants Some!!) is the only big name actress in this production   Throughout the film, she is surrounded by a group of unknown French actors in the roles of several prominent figures of the French New Wave that filters out over the course of the film.
